Asparagus with Garlic and Sesame


Ingredients (use vegan versions):

  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • a couple pinches of sesame seeds


This is a quick and easy side dish that my wife
loves. Mince or press the garlic and set aside.
Chop the bottom tips off the asparagus, and if
you want to go buck wild, use a potato peeler to
peel the tough skin off the bottom inch or two of
the stalks. Heat up the oil in a pan big enough
for the asparagus to lie comfortably. Toss in
the asparagus. After thirty seconds or so, mix
in the garlic. Then add the sesame seeds.
Don’t cook the asparagus too long. Take it off
the heat as soon as it starts to soften. Serve
immediately. Serves two people who LOVE
asparagus, or four who have several other choices
on the table.
